Title: Silverline T-Bird/ES-KEE-MO
Post by: hotdoo on April 10, 2013, 10:38:34 AM

I'm heading north to get my ES-KEE-MO from barn, that's the one in 1st pic, I'm going to restore that one along with the Silverline T-BIRD. I am going to have to use the extra ES-KEE-MO sled in 2nd pic for a donor sled because the tunnel on T-BIRD is shot. I could possibly fix it but since I have the other tunnel,I'm getting lazy. 252 JLO in 2nd pic is STILL locked up tight, brake fluid and diesel mix hasn't done the trick yet! I even set it on fire yesterday(top of piston) and still nothing,so we're back to soaking again. T-BIRD hood is out being painted, decals are done, I using the track from ES-KEE-MO also the T-BIRD is useable but someone stuck a bunch of Moto-Ski cleats on it instead of the steel cleat it's suppose to have. Should be a fun restore on both sleds, seat's will be the biggest cost factor! Neither seats are good enough to put on again. Still plugging away on TIN-CAB, I'm using extra tie rods and torque convertor from T-BIRD/ES-KEE-MO project on it. Sno-coupe is still on rebuild, motor mounts for engine which were hacked out still holding up project along with too many other projects!hotdoo

The ES-KEE-MO in the first pic looks real solid, hotdoo. Will you keep that hood original, or repaint and re-decal it?

It's probably going to be painted. Another $75 for decals,$40 for set-up and $35 for decal. The hood has some problems on other side so it will have to be painted. Seat doesn't look bad,but the material is brittle,so I'll have to have two made 1 for the T-BIRD and one for the ES-KEE-MO. I'm doing this so I have all three Mora Plastics sleds,Silverline T-BIRD,ES-KEE-MO and my Yukon King, which will be restored later.hotdoo

I brought the other ES-KEE-MO home from the up-north polebarn today, I forgot it's got a locked JLO252 on it too,so it looks like I got two to free up! Biggest problem, right of the bat, front and rear drives sprockets out of 3 sleds I got 2 that might work.hotdoo

Took the one ES-KEE-MO apart to be the donor tunnel for T-BIRD, little more rust than I thought. Gas tank has pin holes all around at one certain level, weird. Had to build a new backrest from the steering support off of the T-BIRD,company did double duty, both pieces are the same.Cut out the rusted sections of tank, fixed them, working on getting it ready for paint now. Here's a couple of pics.hotdoo

Talked to my painter at 7 mile hill yesterday, finally got him  to see that the tunnel needs to be done before hood. I send the hood over in April, I thought it would be done by now,but it's also ready for primer. I hope to be seeing the tunnel within the week-hopefully.hotdoo

Still no tunnel! But I did see another ES-Kee-Mo the other day. I believe it may be one of the last ones because it till had the white T-Bird tunnel and decal was just block letters, interesting! hotdoo

Here's the pic of what I think is one of the last ES-KEE-MO's made. Company didn't even bother repainting tunnel and the decals must have run out!

Seat is out being done, but I messed up the decal so I'm waiting till my decal person can put the new ones on for me. It's hard putting decals on in basement with dog and cat fur floating around, that's what ruined the first decal! hotdoo

Here's apic with the seat mounted on, it was alittle harder than I thought to make everything straight. Except for final wiring of rear taillight and a clip to hold the track stand plus final installation of hood(it's just sitting there now). I will be able to move back to tin-cab which alot of the parts are under the table. If anyone has any cylinders for 252 JLO, I need one for sister of the T-Bird,THE -ES-KEE-MO . thanks hotdoo

Excuses, Excuses, Excuses. Your sled project's look way to nice. Drive them through some pine trees to rough them up so they look like everyone elses.
