A few words for new members:
1. When posting a new topic for discussion, please do your best to place your
message in an appropriate category. We request that you refrain from posting
the same message (or very similar messages) in more than one place.
Vinatgesledders.com moderators may move your topic if they feel it may fit better in
another forum. Also, please check before you post a new topic to ensure it isn’t
already being discussed. Topics considered redundant may be merged with the
previous discussion thread.

2. Do not post entire articles. If you wish to reference a news article or online
writing, post a brief abstract of the material and a link to the complete source. If
you are not sure how much of an article you may post, err on the side of caution
and simply post a link to the material.

3. Do not feed the trolls. You’re likely aware that some people in online
communities find pleasure in spamming or trolling message boards. While
VintageSledders.com will work to discourage trolls and disruptive users on the forums,
We encourage you to do your part by ignoring trolls or other antagonists.

Rules Supplement
Philosophy
This message board is a community where members come together to discuss, debate and have fun with issues of their choice. Members respect one another and show that respect in
their interaction with each other and by following the rules established over time.
It’s not a place for people to harass each other or stir up trouble. It’s not a place for
dividing, but coming together.
This is a community and by agreeing to the rules and participating, you are now a
member of this community. It should never be a venue to air or work out personal
grievances.

Word Censor
The word censor exists to prevent foul language from appearing in the forums. Certain
swear words are included in this censor along with some racial slurs. Racial slurs in
general are not accepted, but sometimes the word is referenced and discussed and that
is permissible as long as it is not directed at any forumite in particular or at a general
group outside of the forums. The word censor is meant to soften tone and reduce
general inflammation by slightly altering words members generally find offensive.

Hate Speech
Derogatory comments about race, gender and the LGBT in general are not acceptable
and if posted, the original poster will receive a warning along with their post deleted.
Derogatory comments directed at a forumite based on their race, gender or LGBT status
are not acceptable and if posted, the original poster will receive a warning along with
their post deleted.

Racial Slurs
Racial slurs are not acceptable and if posted, the original poster will receive a warning
along with their post deleted.

Threatening of Violence
Threatening with violence or advocating violence in any way is not acceptable. If posted,
the original poster will receive a warning along with their post deleted.

Topics Created and Named Specifically About another Forumite
It is not acceptable to create a topic about a specific forumite or member of the forums,
unless it is a positive topic, celebratory, or made in jest for fun. A topic should never be
created to put down another member, if posted, the original poster will receive a warning
along with their topic deleted.

Personal Attacks
Personal attacks directed at another forumite or member of the forums is not acceptable.
-Neither are posts that divulge personal information about a forumite. In addition,
insulting family members of forumites is not acceptable. Also not acceptable, are insults
regarding the number of posts a forumite has. If anything mentioned above is posted,
the original poster will receive a warning along with their post deleted.

Posts That are Insulting and Off-Topic
Posts that are insulting and off-topic are not acceptable. If posted, the original poster will
receive a warning along with their post deleted. By "insulting and off-topic," I mean an
interjection that includes nothing about the topic while being completely insulting. For
example, "You are a moron" (and nothing else) is not acceptable. This is an insult while
being off-topic. "You are an idiot," (and nothing else) is also considered an insult that is
off-topic.
If the insult is within text and content that is on-topic, see "Flaming" and Jabs for how
this will be treated.

“Flaming” and Jabs
“Flaming” and playful jabs are accepted in the forums, however, there are rules to follow
for this kind of engagement.
-It must not be personal in nature or divulge personal information about the
forumite (see Personal Attacks, above). It must remain on-topic or include
content relevant to the topic. Any off-topic “flaming,” jabs and insults will be
deleted, along with the original poster receiving a warning.
Below, are 3 options to follow when being “flamed” and jabbed:

1. Don't respond to the original post and report it to the moderator via Personal
Message to see if it violates rules.
-If it does violate rules, a warning will be given along with the original post
deleted. If it doesn’t violate rules, the post will stand.

2. Respond to the original post with the same level of flaming and jabbing and
risk getting a warning along with the original poster.
-Things may or may not escalate in this “flame war” you have chosen to
engage in. Remember, the response cannot be an attack that is personal
in nature and it must remain on topic. Any violation of this and you will
receive a warning along with your post deleted. This also applies to the
original poster.

3. Respond to the original post in a less attacking manner while staying on topic
and there isn't an issue.

Warnings, Temporary Bans and Permanent Bans
If a rule is broken, a warning will be given. Once 2 warnings accumulate, a temporary
ban will be issued. This temporary ban may last a week, 2 weeks or more, depending on
the rule violation. If enough warnings accumulate (and temporary bans have not helped
the situation), a permanent ban will be issued (including a ban of your IP address and
the recording of information revealed by your IP address). This information may be used
in order to contact you or the authorities (including the issue of a restraining order) if you
do not comply with the ban that has been issued.

You further understand that VintageSledders.com may monitor the forums as it chooses and in
its sole discretion reserves the right to remove, edit or otherwise alter content for any
reason without notice and without your consent. We will respond to requests to remove
content on an individual basis, consistent with these policies. We further reserve the
right, in our sole discretion, to remove a user's privilege to post content on VintageSledders.com
